Discipleship Classes
These three programs are the Christian Life And Service Seminars (C.L.A.S.S.). They are designed for new members who are …
… wanting to know more about NHCC and why they should become members,
… wanting to grow in their spiritual walk, to learn the basic doctrines of the Word, and
… wanting to discover their God-given gifts and abilities in order to "plug in" to the ministries at NHCC - helping to serve the many needs of all of our members.
These classes are scheduled three or four times per year and are normally conducted on a Sunday evening from 5 to 8 p.m.
C.L.A.S.S. 101 - Discovering Church Membership - to lead people to Christ and church membership.
This class is the basic introduction to our church family. Our prayer is that you will experience for yourself the joy of being a part of a church with a purpose. During this class, we cover:
- What God has done for us,
- Why we exist as a church,
- How we fulfill our purpose, and
- When and where we fulfill our purpose.
The membership covenant is a commitment to Christ and to the family of Northern Hills Community Church. Our members commit:
- to protect the unity of our church, by acting in love toward other members, by refusing to gossip, and by following the leaders.
- to share the responsibility of our church by praying for its growth, by inviting the "unchurched" to attend, and by warmly welcoming those who visit.
- to serve the ministry of our church by discovering their gifts and talents, by being equipped to serve, and by developing a servant's heart.
- to support the testimony of our church by attending faithfully, by living a godly life, and by giving regularly.
C.L.A.S.S. 201 - Discovering Spiritual Maturity
This class explains spiritual maturity and focuses on the four basic habits that every Christian needs to develop in order to grow. This workshop shows students how to develop these habits:
- How to get a grasp on your Bible
- The habit of prayer - Talking with God.
- The habit of tithing - Giving back to God.
- The habit of fellowship with God's family.
- How to start and maintain good habits.
Members who have attended C.L.A.S.S. 101 are invited to participate.
C.L.A.S.S. 301 - Discovering My Shape for Ministry - to equip people with the skills they need for ministry.
This class focuses on the five personal factors that S.H.A.P.E. the "real" you in preparation for ministry at NHCC, using your God-given gifts and abilities.
S - Spiritual gift: What am I gifted to do?
H - Heart: What do I love to do?
A - Abilities: What natural talents and skills do I have?
P - Personality: Where does my personality suit me to serve?
E - Experiences: What spiritual experience have I had? What painful experiences have I had? What educational experiences have I had? What ministry experiences have I had?
"There are different kinds of service to God, but it is the same Lord we are serving. The Holy Spirit displays God's power through each of us as a means of helping the entire church. All of you together are the one Body of Christ and each one of you is a separate and necessary part of it."
1 Corinthians 12:5-6 (NIV)
Members who have attended C.L.A.S.S. 101 and 201 are invited to participate.
