Northern Hills Community Church, Phoenix, AZ (Arizona, 85050, Southern Baptist, SBC) - Introduction to NHCC

Welcome To Northern Hills Community Church

Northern Hills Community Church (NHCC) is a purpose-driven church plant, which started in 1996 in obedience to the command of our Lord Jesus "to go into the world and make disciples." From November 1996 to August 1998 a congregation of 50 met in a local elementary school while the new property was purchased and the church building was completed. NHCC moved into her current facility in August, 1998.

Dr. R. Dale Gross was appointed to start this church - with a dream to build a great church to worship a great Lord. When church construction was completed, attendance immediately grew to 170 the first week to 253 the second week. Today we enjoy a regular membership of over 400 adults and 230 children and youth.

In September 2000, the Education Building was completed, giving us the much-needed classes for our fast-growing, active church. Our halls are full of laughter and excitement! Sunday school classes, Bible study classes, and Small Groups just continue to grow. The Lord is blessing His church!

We are here to worship God and learn His Word as the whole truth and to understand God’s purposes for our life. We are then given opportunities to apply His Word to our daily lives. The Bible is our only guide for faith and Christian living.

Our members enjoy a casual, friendly environment. Business casual and sporty casual dress create a place where everyone can relax.

NHCC is an independent, community church affiliated with the North American and International Mission Boards of the Southern Baptist Convention, which allows us to be obedient to Christ through the Great Commission and remain an independent church.

The Meaning of the Three Crosses

Northern Hills Community Church, Phoenix, AZ 85050 (Arizona, Southern Baptist, SBC) 3-cross logoOn a particular day about 2000 years ago three men were crucified on crosses, a fate reserved for only those committing the most hideous crimes. The One hanging in the middle was Jesus Christ, God's Only Son. Born of a virgin, He came to earth to live a sinless life and to give his life to pay the penalty for the sins of every person who ever lived.

Hanging to the left of Jesus was a man whose crimes deserved this horrendous kind of punishment. He did not believe Jesus was the Son of God, cursed Jesus and died, sentencing himself to eternal hell.

The criminal to the right of Jesus had also committed monstrous crimes and deserved his punishment, but he believed Jesus was the Son of God and asked to be with Jesus after his death. This man had no time in which to change or do anything we might consider good. Jesus assured him that he would be in heaven that very day because he believed in God's Son and asked to be saved from spending eternity in hell, separated from God.

Those two men represent all of mankind, even today, The question is, "Which of these two men portray our own eternal destiny?"
